Sleek, lean, sophisticated and often redheads, Abyssinian cats originate from Egypt, where cats once were worshipped as gods. No wonder these beauties look so regal, with their ticked fur, sinewy bodies, large ears, and expressive eyes. When you look at an ancient Egyptian cat statue, you’ll see a resemblance to the Abyssinian, often called “Aby” as a nickname.

An Abyssinian can cost up to $2,000 from a breeder, but cat lovers can live vicariously through Instagram, where many Abyssinian cat parents have set up entertaining pages for their exquisite felines. I had a great time searching for Instagram Abyssinian celebrities, and picked out these eight to spotlight. (Note that I am sure there are many worthy Abyssinian profiles out there I didn’t see, so keep looking if you’re an Aby fan!)

1. Barcelona, Malta, Pipa, and Murcia

Barcelona, Malta, Pipa, and Murcia

These beautiful cats live with an Abyssinian breeder in Northern Virginia. Barcelona, named the star of this page at @barcelona_the_aby_cat, looks so athletic as she climbs up a tree in this reel, which includes this written joke: “Why do trees make great friends? They’re always rooting for you!” Cute.

Murcia is a mother cat who demonstrates how cat moms push their babies toward independence. Malta is another mother cat who has a thing for stealing socks to bring to her babies. In this video, Murcia and Pipa have an entertaining play fight.

It isn’t just these four resident cats you see on Barcelona’s page. You’ll see many photos of the breeder’s kittens, like these two sweeties! And, here are five littermates playing together. So sweet!

Check out this page’s more than 700 adorable videos, and you’ll join the ranks of 71.5K followers.

2. Gingersnap

Abyssinians are known for being sleek, slender and athletic – but not this gal, at @gingersnaptheaby. Gingersnap’s human calls her the “Fat Abyssinian Cat,” and while Gingersnap is pudgy for an Aby, she is beautiful!

Gingersnap has the purrfect name, with her ruddy fur that has a reddish ginger tone. The page has more than 600 adorable pictures and reels, including this photo of the portly puss curled up in a cardboard box. In this greeting-card-worthy shot, Gingersnap poses in front of a sparkling Christmas tree. Gingersnap and Azrael, who now has his own Instagram page at @azraeltheabyssiniancat, have a funny sibling spat in this photo. They look so adorable together!

3. Tsunami

Tsunami

The introduction on the page @tsunami_abyssinian_cat describes the now-adult Abyssinian as a “curious, active and absolutely crazy kitten living in Vilnius, Lithuania.” I am unsure about the gender of this gorgeous feline, but he or she is a sight to behold.

This account hasn’t posted anything for a few years, but more than 4.2K fans have discovered more than 340 photos of Tsunami to delight them. Here, Tsunami looks inquisitive and seems to say: “What?” Tsunami lounges in a harness, perches on human dad’s shoulder, and celebrates a second birthday in an adorable red and white bowtie.

Enjoy checking out this amazing feline.

4. Cheese and Olive

Those names make me hungry for hors d’oeuvres! Strangely, this Instagram account at @cheeseandolive hasn’t posted something new in four years. But the more than 2.1K posts on the page, which has 60.8K followers, is worth inclusion here, even if the account isn’t very active.

Olive might look familiar to our readers. We see from posts that Olive worked as a feline model, and she appeared on the covers of Modern Cat and Catster magazines. According to Olive’s human’s comments on the page, Olive has since retired from modeling. And here is the ruddy-colored Cheese, a male cat with a funny, agape facial expression in this cute photo.

You will love gazing at these gorgeous Abys!

5. Enzo and Abigail

This Instagram account at @enzo_the_abyssinian started with just the handsome Enzo, who later got another Abyssinian sister named Abigail (what a purrfect name for an Aby!). Enzo is a gorgeous ruddy color, and Abigail is a blue Abyssinian. These cats live in Chicago, and they look so cute together.

Here is a cute photo of Abigail after she crawled into an oven, and Enzo perched on a shelf.

Spend some time scrolling through Enzo’s and Abigail’s more than 300 photos, and join the community of more than 1.3K followers.

6. Leon, Kiki, Rui, Shane, Kirara, Baron

What a large Abyssinian family! Their human clearly loves the breed and has shared more than 800 photos and reels of this Aby crew: Leon, Kiki, Rui, Shane, Kirara, and Baron. The page at @abyssinianfamily has accumulated more than 1K followers.

Here, Shane and Baron have a back-to-back sibling hangout. Three kittens, names unknown, chill together on a blanket. We cheer for Kiki when we read her post that she beat breast cancer – yay for “Miracle Kiki!” For a strong dose of oxytocin “Awww,” watch this reel of several baby Aby kittens nursing from their mother.

This family appears to live in Asia somewhere – the photo captions are written in a foreign language – but you can hit the translate button and read the text.

7. Tyyni, Tiuku, Lusi and Lili

Someone in Finland has a tribe of four exquisite Abyssinian cats and has posted more than 800 photos and reels of them at @tyyniandtiuku_abyssinians. It’s not clear who is who in the ensemble of cats, but you can enjoy more than 800 photos of sleek Abyssinian cats at this page with more than 8.1K followers.

Here are two of the cats sitting atop empty boxes of chocolate on Christmas – cute! In this reel, two of the cats have a sibling session of loving followed by a spat. Tyyni celebrates her third birthday with this reel of her life, starting as a beautiful kitten.

8. Willow and Romeo

This 9-year-old heartwarming page, @willowtheabyssinian, is where two beautiful Abys – beautiful Willow and handsome Romeo – live on in spirit after passing away. You can enjoy hundreds of sweet and funny photos and videos of these two Abyssinians, with a bonus breed: Bambi, a silver Bengal, came along in recent years, and she’s a beauty. (Read here for more about Bengal cats on Instagram!)

This adorable photo of Bambi as a kitten next to Romeo – with the caption “Bambi is Romeo’s Little Shadow” – melts my heart. And in this reel, little sister Bambi is bugging her Aby big brother, and it’s so entertaining.

Keep the memory of Willow and Romeo alive at this Instagram page with more than 2.5K followers – and enjoy following Bambi the Bengal’s life!
